Q: I cannot seem to connect to join a game and I'm behind a router, why?
A: If you had no issues on the same computer form another location and multiple computers at the same location have this issue then it is most likely an issue with the router.
you would need to make sure the proper ports are opened and or forwarded to the computer having issues:
StarCraft/Brood War: TCP and UDP Port 6112
For specific information on configuring a router you may need to contact the router manufacturer.
Q: How do I take screenshots?
A:
For PC Users:
- While in the game press the Print Screen key on your keyboard.
- The screenshot will be saved as a .pcx image file in the StarCraft game folder on your hard drive.
- Each time you press the "print screen" key, a new screenshot will be added to the folder. You may need to get a special image viewing utility to open up or modify the screenshots.
For Mac Users:
There are 2 methods you can use to capture a screenshot.
The first method is through the game. By default the key for screenshots is F13. The screenshot will be saved as a .pcx image file in the StarCraft game folder on your hard drive
The second method uses your Macintosh's screenshot ability.
- While in the game, press Command-Shift-3 on your keyboard.
- The screenshot will appear as an Acrobat Reader (PDF) file in your StarCraft folder.
- You may need to get Adobe Acrobat Reader to open up or modify the PDF file if you cannot do so normally
Q: After installing the game on a Windows Vista system and trying to run it for the first time, you are likely to get a message similar to:
This program has known compatibility issues
A: To fix this please patch the game using the latest patch. You can download and run the stand-alone patch from our patches page at http://www.blizzard.com/patches. You will only need the latest full patch for the game (1.16.1). This will contain all previous information from previous patch updates.
Our games will only work correctly when run with an administrator account. To do this with Vista, please Right-click on the game icon and then select Run As Administrator from the pop-up menu that appears. This will allow the game to run in Administrator mode.
If that does not allow you to run the game, please make sure you set the game to Windows XP SP 2 compatibility mode.
1. Right click on the Game icon.
2. Select "Properties"
3. Click on the "Compatibility" tab
4. Select "Windows XP SP2"
5. Click "OK"
